“The Palm Springs International Festival” is one of the most important events for the film industry, and Datta Papa’s story was included in its official selection.
Dati Japaridze’s film “Don’t Leave Home”, which was shot with the support of the Ketar Foundation, will be shown in the program called “Home is Where the Heart Is”, the film is nominated for the “Bridging the Borders Award”.
“Do not leave your home” describes the life of Data Vanishvili, the symbol of our time of occupation. The film is shot in one continuous shot and for 15 minutes it details the impact of the occupation on civilians and how it changes their lives.
“It’s important to reflect and tell this story to an audience that is actually very far away from this problem that exists in California. For us, Georgian viewers, it is understandable and quite easy to understand, because we deal with this problem and feel the results. The premiere of the film was held at various film festivals in Europe, but for the audience there, this problem was more or less close.
This film has not been premiered in America yet. The American audience has a completely different meaning, because they are in another part of the world and this issue is foreign to them. That is why we are waiting for their evaluations.
The goal of this program is to tell this story in as many places as possible, on more platforms, to provide more people with information about the problems caused by the creeping occupation.” – says Dati Japaridze.
